Bhutan National Bank Ltd. Helps Promote Civil Society Responsibility with Donation of Ngultrum Two Million to RENEW

On March 29th 2018, Bhutan National Bank Ltd. a leading provider of financial services and proponent of civil society responsibility donated Ngultrum Two Million to RENEW (Respect, Educate, Nurture and Empower Women).
The CEO Mr. Kipchu Tshering handed over the cheque of Ngultrum 2,000,000 to Her Majesty the Queen Mother Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck.
RENEW Founder and President, Her Majesty Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck, thanked the Bhutan National Bank Ltd. for the support and pointed out that the support will benefit RENEW to sustain its services to provide a specific attention to the survivors of domestic violence, sexual and gender based violence, families and youth of Bhutan.
Her Majesty said since its establishment in 2005, RENEW has been consistently at the forefront of providing social services and with an increasing number of programmes and services being provided, UN support is not enough anymore.
It was pointed out by Dr. Meenakshi Rai, Director of Community Outreach Department that number of people that approaches RENEW for help has been increasing yearly and the biggest challenge that they are facing is the Human Resource Development (HRD). She also added that services provided at RENEW are under professional supervision and management.
The NGO is committed to forging a better understanding of the circumstance causing domestic violence, sexual and gender based violence and gender inequalities at all levels of society. Through RENEW’s multilayered services, a wide range of care and support is provided for women, men and children impacted by such violence and inequalities.
